A new website has been created dedicated to saving the Lake, through action. The site encourages you to show support

through the display of signs
by contacting elected officials and
by contacting US Army Corps of Engineers

Lake Powell Saturday's Virginia Gazette carried an article quoting Project Manager Robert Berg of the Army Corps of Engineers as saying "that the owners want to remove the remnants of the dam permanently." and that the owners have applied to create a wetland bank not only on the west side of Jamestown Road as previosuly thought, but on the eastern side as well.

3 - 5 years for dam rebuild

The Powell family descendents, owners of 75% of Lake Powell and 50% of the Lake Powell Dam, have decided that they want to retain ownership of the Lake and Dam. This means that it is likely that repairs to the dam will take between 3 to 5 years to complete.
